MARTIN BRINE

Martin Brine lives and makes his art on Kaurna land in South Australia. He is exploring artistic practice after careers in history, architecture and public policy and, because of his background in building, Martin makes work that has its origins in architecture, materiality, and the space occupied and contained by forms and boundaries.

Martin makes sculpture, installations and objects from glass, clay, wood and stone. He’s also particularly interested in how people move through space and are affected by space and its boundaries. His work therefore responds to viewers’ movement around and through space.

In addition to his contemporary art studies and continuing to provide architectural and consultancy services, Martin has exhibited in a group glass exhibition in 2022 for the International Year of Glass, has worked at the Jam Factory and has assisted glass artists in South Australia on work for exhibitions.
