Elise Braggs is a multidisciplinary artist and printmaker based in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Her current body of work utilizes woven paper and textiles to explore ephemeral childhood memories, feminine lineage, and the storytelling nature of domestic craft techniques. She uses weaving as a prominent process in her work to emphasize the overlapping and connecting quality of familial narratives and experiences. By layering images on top of and underneath one another, both compositions are being partially obscured while working together to create a new visual experience. In this same way, personal memories, attitudes, and understandings are constantly adapting to each other and building on generationally shared knowledge to form the current perception we have of ourselves.
Elise is currently attending The University of South Australia through a study abroad program but will receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in both Studio Art and Art History, from her home institution Oklahoma State University.
