Macailah Lehmann is an emerging Australian artist soon to complete a Bachelor of Contemporary Art at the University of South Australia (UNISA). Her developing explores the intricate connection between people and nature. She often employs still life to explore the delicate relationship between humans and plants our ongoing struggle to control its desire to grow freely using a range of media, such as painting and ceramics. By emphasising the importance of underappreciated nature in urban areas in addition to the beauty of undisturbed landscapes, she aims to generate a feeling of belonging and encourage a wider respect for the natural world.
She is a multidisciplinary artist who works with environmental materials such as clay, pottery, sculpture, and still life painting. Urban environments provide a platform for exploring topics of biophilia, control, and freedom.
Macailah has engaged with group exhibitions at the University of South Australia participating in 2023 Out of the box, 2024 Small Works of medium density and a Group Exhibition in Enoteca Food for thought exhibition SALA exhibits.
