Open,
Close,
Shut down,
Entangle,
Pack up,
Unfurl.
These are the actions which I am constantly thinking about when creating a personal language in jewellery making. My practice combines various mechanical forms, motions and functions into wearable pieces. I am exceptionally fascinated with how an object can be activated, opened, and unfurled to be worn on people's skin. This need for activation stems from my desire to create a sense of engagement and fascination between the wearer and the object. In addition, most of my works involve the use of mild steel and sterling silver as a reminder of their industry usage and versatile quality.
As human society becomes increasingly intertwined with machines, I believe it is crucial that we embrace this next step in our evolution. This integration presents us with new opportunities and challenges, and it is important that we approach it with an open mind and a willingness to adapt.
